Licensed Cosmetologist and Freelance Master Stylist Stephanie Harris caters to both the Entertainment Industry (through celebrity clientele and high-profile events) as well as the everyday woman.
The Washington, DC native craves a fast-paced industry. Her above-par talents consistently thrust her notoriety to the mainstream; working amongst the industry greats she’s always admired professionally.
Inspired by Top Celebrity Stylist Kiyah Wright, as an Extension Specialist herself, Harris models her drive and determination up against her hometown hero and role model. Harris respects values set forth by her predecessors, Wright in particular, who Harris states “is positive, uplifting and encouraging in her craft." Wright’s energy alone proved as exhilaration for Harris as she followed her successes and heights to fame over the years; her stability, influences and creativity assured Stephanie that her chosen path was attainable.
Studying Beauty Arts, Harris graduated with a diploma in Cosmetology in 2008 from the Bennet Career Institute (BCI): Washington, DC. Developing a close relationship and working closely with the Institute’s Founder Mr. C. Alan Bennett, Harris received first-hand professional guidance and critique. Although Harris’ talents and drive were noted by Mr. Bennet himself prior to entering the curriculum; she strived to learn his program-specific techniques and the importance of customer service. Her career today she attributes to Bennett, his persistence and encouragement towards her success. Harris says, “Mr. Bennet is always true to himself and always pushing his students to be the best. I learned from him the importance of networking; stepping out, taking hold of my destiny and presenting myself and talents on a professional level.”
For Harris, her passion for the beauty industry runs deep; her work is more than “style,” but “all about maintaining.” She says, “Our hair is our personality and for women, it signifies our youth. It’s not just an accessory so I take pride in educating my clients on the importance of maintaining rather than simply styling hair.” It is her commitment to reinforce her teachings and educate her clientele. Passing along her knowledge and having her clients comply to her guide for care is essential and proven for hair health and growth. Harris is most fulfilled and inspired by her client’s testimonials; gratified that her client’s walk away feeling happy, confident and displaying photos of her work through social media.
To Harris “touching lives trumps doing hair;” it is essential that she makes her clientele “feel good” as well as support them one-hundred percent in their endeavors outside of the salon. Seeing that others notice that she in fact loves what she does as a career makes it all worth the while. Most known and requested for hair weaving, Harris is referred to as the “Weavemaster,” of the industry.
Her experience extends from working with noted photographer Derek Blanks, America’s Next Top Model Alasia Ballard, vh1’s Tionna Smalls, R&B Artist Teyonna Taylor, and Creative Director E. Taylor to Nabisco’s Super Bowl Advertisement featuring Guy Fieri. MATTEL, Oxygen's
, Maxim Magazine and more.
Harris dedicates her time to give back to local and national charities in addition to supporting local Fashion Shows and Modeling Troupes. Harris' overall goal is to provide a luxurious experience through personal consultations, utilizing the best hair-care products, and imparting the health and education of hair.
